What Can You Use If You Do Not Have a Drill
What Can You Use If You Do Not Have a Drill
Both professionals and amateur handymen need tools. Sometimes tools get broken or lost.
What can you use if your drill is not available?
Drills are designed to make holes for bolts in a variety of hard surfaces. A drill can also be used to lessen the stress involved in screwing bolts using a manual screwdriver. It can be very useful when you have a lot of bolts to screw.
You can easily replace this function by using a common screwdriver. But, drilling a hole requires something different.
Method #1: To drill holes into plastic
- A sharp piece of copper should be heated.
- Place the piece of plastic over the place you plan to drill a hole.
- Let it melt the plastic to form a hole.
The key is to have the right-sized copper piece. This can be easily found at your local hardware shop.
Method #2: Make your very own bow drill
- Two sticks of wood are enough to create a bow. One should have a sharp tip and the other a handle.
- Take a piece of wood and make a small hole where you will drill your hole.
- Put the pointy end of your second stick there, and apply pressure.
- Wrap the string (bow), around your drill bit.
- You can drill through the wood by pressing on the handhold and moving your bow.
Method #3: Brace, bit
This is the tool you need if you have a brace. Just apply pressure to the top of your brace, and then rotate the U-shaped bit.
Method #4: Self drill screws
If you can find self-drilling bolts, it will save you so much trouble. Simply go to your local hardware and use a regular screwdriver.
